Bespoke Services
David Hunt lighting is proud to be able to offer a bespoke service to our customers who are looking for something different to what we offer in our standard range. Our dedicated team can work with you to meet your requirements from extending chain lengths on existing products to a complete custom design, as shown below. When we have the expertise to make something ourselves, we do.

Special Colours
We are able to offer many of our fittings in most styles of finish. If you see an item but require a different finish please give contact us to see if we can accommodate your requirements. When ordering a special colour we work with BS4800 RAL numbers or Dulux reference numbers. We can spray our products in most household interior eggshell paints, though due to the nature of our products we sometimes have to add a lacquer or wax to seal the colour and it can alter the finish. Please contact us for more information on colour matching.

Bespoke Shades

We can make any of our standard shades using a fabric of your choice. It couldn’t be easier. Simply send a fabric swatch to our wonderful Shade Team at the address below so we can check compatibility with our adhesives and lining materials. The swatch needs to be a minimum size of 10 cm x 10cm and must include your contact details.

You’ll also need to tell us which shade frame you would like us to use and whether the shade is intended to be a ceiling pendant, table or floor lamp shade. If the fabric is patterned or striped we will also need to know the direction you would like the pattern to run, all these little details make a big difference. 

Don’t forget to tell us which fabric lining you require. We can use any fabrics from our colour palette or there’s a choice of white laminate, or gold, silver and bronze metallic. 

Once received, we will assess the fabric sample and return it back to you with a price and we'll let you know how much fabric you will need to send us to fulfill your order. For some fabrics, such as dupion silks, it is not possible to hand laminate (this is the process of fixing the fabric to the rigid inner lining material). In such cases, we can laminate the fabric by a machined process which reduces any bubbling or lifting between the fabric and lining. However, we would need a minimum of 6 metres of fabric for this process.

Bespoke shades manufactured by The Light Shade Studio are non-returnable in line with our standard terms and conditions of trade.

All fabrics used in the production of our standard shades are “machine laminated”.
